Roam Studios develops, produces, and distribute films.
We say it plainly because the words still mean something to us. We don’t acquire content; we don’t license libraries. We build films from the first page of a script to the final print, with the artists who still believe a film is worth building that way.
We seek out first and foremost great writers, the most talented directors, the most talented actors, all of them chosen for the same reason: a willingness to take the time a great film actually takes to make.
We encourage shooting on 35mm film, we encourage to record on analog tape, we encourage to not have a computer in any part of the film making process. We use orchestra scores, and real musicians recorded in studios using instruments. We do not focus on anything to save time, or save money, we are laser focused and demand the highest quality.
We protect our artists from the noise of self promotion.
A Roam film that is curated for distribution spends a long time being considered, and reconsidered for our audience, and admitted only when a small group of committed cinephiles who have spent their lives studying the art of cinema agree it belongs. Some films we spend years on will never be released at all, we would rather make nothing, than make something forgettable.
We built Roam Studios for the audience who never stopped believing that film is the premier art form, and particularly as the home of the artist who never stopped making film that the form deserves.
